Give Me A Cup Of…
What is your favourite hot drink?
How many cups and mugs do you have in your house? Do you have one cup or mug that you prefer for your favourite hot drink? What is your favourite hot drink?
I learnt to love green tea during the year that I lived in Japan, where tea is ubiquitous and infinitely varied. Although I hadn’t been a big soft drink guzzler prior, by the time I had returned to Australia I could not palate sweet drinks. The more bitter, the better. Green tea, matcha, oolong, Ceylon, no sweetener and no milk, were my new taste.
Every morning I make a cup of green tea. Aside from water when I first wake up, it marks the beginning of my day. Green tea’s gentle buzz gives me enough energy for an early morning run or a work out without upsetting the stomach.
Perhaps you are a caffeine fiend and tea is too insipid for you? I worked in cafes in my twenties where I was taught all about coffee and coffee making by Italians who, naturally, take espresso very seriously. Who drinks latte or cappuccino in the afternoon? Bad for the digestion! Macchiato with more than a dash of milk? Sacrilege! I drank a lot of espresso coffee during those years, more than I could stomach these days. I was young and kept late hours, so black coffee was a necessity back then.
